UPDATE: In a stunning display of talent, Acelynn Hacker of the Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Fighting Saints has become the school’s all-time leading scorer, achieving 1,631 career points during a dominating 77-31 victory over Lac qui Parle Valley just moments ago.
Hacker, a senior guard, kicked off her final season in spectacular fashion, needing just 19 points to surpass the previous record set by Esther Peterson in 2007. She accomplished this feat with a game-high 36 points and an impressive 11 steals, solidifying her place in the record books and thrilling fans in attendance.
The record-breaking moment came with 6 minutes, 9 seconds left in the first half, when Hacker sank an and-one free throw after being fouled on a layup attempt. Her electrifying performance included 29 points in the first half alone, helping the Fighting Saints secure a commanding 46-16 halftime lead.
Coach Justin Johnson praised Hacker’s achievement, stating, “It was a good start.” Junior guard Leah Wagner also contributed significantly, scoring 19 points and adding vital defensive support with 10 steals.
The Fighting Saints will look to build on this momentum as they host Dawson-Boyd for a Camden Conference game at 7 p.m. Thursday. Meanwhile, Lac qui Parle Valley aims to regroup as they face Ortonville at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
In other action, MACCRAY dominated Dawson-Boyd with a score of 69-40, led by senior guard Brielle Janssen, who racked up 33 points, nine assists, and 10 steals. The Blackjacks struggled offensively, shooting just 23% from the field. Dawson-Boyd will also compete on Thursday against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.
Meanwhile, Central Minnesota Christian School showcased a remarkable performance, leading 66-1 at halftime in their match against Ortonville, ultimately winning 88-7. Emmi Braem led CMCS with 20 points and five steals.
