This loss marks the third consecutive defeat for Willmar, dropping their season record to 3-8-0. The Cardinals struck first with a goal by Gabrielle Revier at 12:31 in the first period, assisted by Lily Jorgenson and Alivia Fladeboe. However, Minnesota River quickly responded, tying the game just three seconds before the first intermission when Noelle Simonette netted a power-play goal.
