Emily in Paris Poised for New Adventures in Season 6

The popular Netflix series Emily in Paris may soon embark on another relocation if it secures a sixth season. Following the finale of season five, which debuted on December 18, 2024, viewers are left wondering where the titular character, played by Lily Collins, will travel next. The season concluded with a dramatic twist, revealing Gabriel, portrayed by Lucas Bravo, preparing to dock a boat in Greece while inviting Emily to visit him.

This potential new setting aligns with statements from Andrew Fleming, the show’s director and executive producer, who indicated a desire to explore further locations. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Fleming expressed, “Assuming we’re picked up, I want to go back to Paris. But I want to go other places too.” The hint of Greece as a possible destination creates excitement among fans eager for more international escapades.

The series follows Emily Cooper, a marketing executive from the United States, as she navigates life and love in Paris. Throughout the seasons, she has found herself in a complicated love triangle involving Gabriel and Alfie, played by Lucien Laviscount. After a brief romance with Marcello, portrayed by Eugenio Franceschini, the season four finale suggested Gabriel’s renewed interest in Emily, complicating her situation as she has also established roots in Rome.

Before the fifth season premiered, series creator Darren Star addressed concerns that the show would shift its focus entirely to Rome. He clarified that while Emily does work in Rome due to her company’s office there, this does not signify a permanent move. “She didn’t change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome,” he told Deadline in September 2024. “In my mind, it’s definitely not a permanent move to Rome. We’re not leaving Paris.”

French President Emmanuel Macron also weighed in on the show’s setting, stating in an interview with Variety in October 2024 that he planned to “fight hard” to keep Emily in Paris for season five. His remarks highlight the cultural significance of the show to France, as it portrays a romanticized view of life in the City of Light.

Star further elaborated on the potential benefits of expanding the series’ geographical scope. He mentioned to TVLine that the move to Italy “expands the universe of the show.” He noted, “Just at the point that Emily has gotten comfortable in Paris, she’s sort of thrown into another country where she’s going to experience some cultural differences.” This exploration of cultural contrasts between the French and Italians serves as a fresh narrative avenue while maintaining the core connection to Paris.

As fans eagerly await news of a sixth season, they remain invested in Emily’s journey, which has captivated audiences worldwide. The series continues to stream on Netflix, keeping viewers engaged with its vibrant storytelling and charming characters.
