UPDATE: Chagrin Falls police are investigating a significant jewelry theft that occurred at around 11 a.m. on December 9, 2023. Thieves made off with three rings and two jewelry boxes, totaling an estimated value of $2,350, from a business on West Washington Street.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather more information on the suspects involved. This theft marks a notable incident in the typically quiet community, raising concerns among local residents about safety and property protection.
In a separate incident earlier, on December 8 at 8:46 a.m., a woman reported damage to her fence on South Franklin Street. The police report did not specify the cause or extent of the damage, leaving residents puzzled about potential vandalism in the area.
Additionally, at approximately 3:15 p.m. on December 9, officers conducted a routine traffic stop on East Washington Street. A 55-year-old Bainbridge Township man was arrested due to an active warrant out of Independence. He was subsequently turned over to Independence authorities for further action.
In a concerning incident late on December 9, Chagrin Falls police assisted Moreland Hills police at around 11:44 p.m. in searching for a 21-year-old man who crashed his car and fled the scene. Officers discovered the abandoned vehicle with deployed airbags and a suspected bag of heroin inside, prompting a K-9 search. K-9 Officer Max signaled positively where the suspected drugs were found. Despite a thorough search, including a drone operated by Solon police, the man was not located until he contacted police dispatch to report he had been picked up. He now faces possible charges from Moreland Hills.
