Local Football Stars Honored with Mini-Max Awards in Pennsylvania

The Maxwell Football Club has announced the recipients of its prestigious Mini-Max Awards, recognizing outstanding high school football players from Pennsylvania. Among the 55 athletes honored are three talented football players from the Schuylkill League: Minersville quarterback Dante Carr, Tri-Valley linebacker Cole Gemberling, and Panther Valley quarterback Brody Breiner.

The Mini-Max Award celebrates individuals who excel not only on the field but also in academics and community service. All recipients will be invited to the Mini-Maxwell Awards ceremony in February 2024, where one athlete will be named the state’s Player of the Year.

Dante Carr has made headlines with his impressive performance this season. A signee with the University of Central Florida, he was recently honored as a Class AA All-State quarterback. This fall, Carr threw for over 1,800 yards and achieved a total of 29 touchdowns, setting a new school record. Additionally, he rushed for nearly 1,400 yards and scored 19 rushing touchdowns, culminating in a remarkable high school career with 5,891 passing yards, 3,535 rushing yards, and a total of 136 touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Cole Gemberling has also made a significant impact on the field. As a Class A All-State selection, he led the Schuylkill League with a remarkable total of 178 tackles this season, bringing his career total to 408 tackles. In addition to his defensive prowess, Gemberling contributed offensively with 668 total yards and nine touchdowns for the Tri-Valley Bulldogs.

In his final season, Brody Breiner showcased his dual-threat capabilities for Panther Valley. He completed 145 of 239 passing attempts, resulting in 10 touchdowns. On the ground, Breiner rushed for over 1,000 yards and scored another 10 touchdowns. His defensive contributions were notable as well, with 50 tackles, including two tackles for loss.

These athletes exemplify the spirit of the Mini-Max Award, combining athletic excellence with academic achievement and community involvement. Their recognition not only highlights their individual talents but also the strength of high school football in Pennsylvania. As they prepare for the awards ceremony, all eyes will be on who takes home the coveted title of Player of the Year.
