URGENT UPDATE: Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman has announced a significant relocation of her branch office from Elkton in Cecil County to Bel Air in Harford County, effective early to mid-February 2024. This move, confirmed in a news release this week, aims to improve accessibility for Maryland taxpayers.
The new office will occupy a 2,650 sq-ft space in the former M&T Bank building located on Emmorton Road. “Relocating to Harford County will allow us to meet more taxpayers where they are, reducing the time and distance they must travel to get to us,” Lierman stated in the announcement.
Residents needing in-person services at the Elkton location should note that December 31 will be the final day for face-to-face assistance. However, the Comptroller’s office will expand virtual appointment options, allowing taxpayers to connect with branch employees digitally. “Our commitment to customer service is unrelenting,” said Ana Garay, director of the Taxpayer Services Division. She emphasized the goal of providing timely, accurate support to taxpayers across Maryland and beyond.
This relocation is part of a broader initiative to enhance service across the state. Additional offices in Frederick and Montgomery counties are also expected to relocate next year, reflecting the Comptroller’s ongoing efforts to improve taxpayer engagement.
