The Lansdale Catholic girls basketball team secured a decisive victory over Germantown Academy with a final score of 46-32 during the Mary Vey Memorial Showcase at the Boardwalk Classic held in Wildwood, New Jersey. Allie Esposito stood out by scoring a game-high 15 points, including four 3-pointers, as her team pulled ahead decisively in the third quarter.
Lansdale Catholic, now boasting a record of 6-1, entered halftime with a 21-15 lead. They dominated the third quarter, outscoring Germantown Academy 14-4. Both Ali Kaltenbacher and Celynn Picard contributed eight points each to the Crusaders’ performance. The Patriots, who now have a record of 7-5, saw Claire McKee score eight points while Jo Owens added seven. This loss marks Germantown Academy’s third consecutive defeat.
Other Notable Matchups at the Boardwalk Classic
In another game, Methacton achieved a solid win against the SEED School from Maryland, finishing 43-26. Ava Wolf delivered an impressive performance with a double-double, recording 15 points and 15 rebounds. Jessa Greenberg supported the Warriors with seven points. Methacton improved its record to 4-6 overall, while SEED School struggled, with Morgan Jackson leading their scoring efforts with eight points.
Mount St. Joseph showcased its strength by defeating Ocean City, New Jersey, with a resounding score of 69-37. Caroline Dougherty made an immediate impact, scoring all 11 of her points in the first quarter, which ended with Mount St. Joseph leading 23-6. Caitlin Cavallaro and Morgan Cross added 14 and 12 points respectively, pushing Mount’s record to 9-1.
Archbishop Carroll also had a successful outing, overcoming Central Bucks East 51-33 at the Cardinal O’Hara Holiday Tournament. Alexis Eberz recorded a double-double with 16 points, including 14 in the first half, and grabbed 15 rebounds. Kayla Eberz matched her sister’s scoring output, contributing 16 points while Abbie McFillin added nine points, ten rebounds, and four assists. Central Bucks East, now 8-1, saw Haley Moran score a game-high 18 points but could not prevent their first loss of the season.
Boys Basketball Highlights
In boys basketball, Archbishop Carroll from Washington D.C. defeated Archbishop Wood 76-63. Despite trailing at halftime with a score of 31-25, Archbishop Carroll rallied to tie the game at 46 by the end of the third quarter. They then surged ahead, outscoring Wood 30-17 in the final quarter. Daylen Bolding led Carroll with a game-high 23 points, while Anthony Brown contributed 16 points and 12 assists. Brady MacAdams was the top scorer for Archbishop Wood with 16 points.
