URGENT UPDATE: The Chatfield wrestling teams delivered a stunning performance today at the prestigious Bi-State Classic in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The girls’ team finished the first day of the two-day event with an impressive score of 195 points, securing the highest overall score among both girls and boys teams. Meanwhile, the boys’ team claimed a remarkable second place with 176.5 points against a competitive field of 68 teams.
In a remarkable display of skill, the Chatfield girls shone brightly, with Melody Ward (100 lbs), Maizee Priebe (114 lbs), Elle Eickhoff (145 lbs), and Eve Goetzinger (165 lbs) all advancing to the semifinals. Priebe and Eickhoff were standout performers, each achieving four pins to lead their team into tomorrow’s semifinals.
On the boys’ side, top-ranked wrestler Joey Cady, competing at 107 lbs in Class 1A, spearheaded the team with a staggering 30 points earned through four consecutive pins. Cady’s impressive victory ensures his spot in the semifinals on Tuesday. Joining him are Logan Pearson (126 lbs) and Kaisen Johnson (132 lbs), who also delivered strong performances.
Other notable semifinalists include Garrett Williams (106 lbs), Owen Parish (113 lbs), and Adam Parish (132 lbs) from Cannon Falls/Randolph. Zumbrota-Mazeppa’s Carl Murray reached the semifinals at 120 lbs, having narrowly defeated Chatfield’s Jameson Priebe by a tight 1-0 decision in the quarterfinals. Additionally, Goodhue’s Hayden Holm advanced to the semifinals at 150 lbs for the Wildcats.
