Canal+ and Warner Bros. Discovery Enhance Global Partnership

Canal+ and Warner Bros. Discovery have solidified their international collaboration through a new multi-year agreement. This partnership not only renews the distribution of HBO Max in several countries but also expands its reach to Belgium and Austria.

Under the terms of the agreement, HBO Max will continue to be available via Canal+ in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania. In addition, the distribution of popular channels such as Cartoon Network, Cartoonito, and CNN International will be renewed in Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. The agreement also extends to the renewal of Warner TV in the Czech Republic.

Broadening Horizons in Africa

In a significant move for the African market, the agreement will see the renewal of 12 thematic channels owned by Warner Bros. Discovery across territories managed by MultiChoice Group. This includes prominent channels such as CNN International, Cartoon Network, Discovery Channel, and HGTV, enhancing the content offerings for viewers in the region.

This latest agreement builds on previous collaborations established in 2024, which included the renewal of the exclusive pay-TV window for Warner Bros. Pictures films in France. Notably, these films will remain exclusive for six months following their theatrical release. Furthermore, the integration of HBO Max within select Canal+ group offers is also part of this ongoing partnership.

Strategic Moves Amid Industry Changes

The timing of this agreement is particularly intriguing, as it coincides with Netflix‘s ongoing acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. This purchase could enhance Canal+’s positioning as a significant player in the global media landscape. The company has already established distribution deals with Netflix, potentially increasing its competitive edge.

This new agreement represents a strategic effort by both Canal+ and Warner Bros. Discovery to expand their presence in key international markets while reinforcing their existing partnerships. As the media landscape continues to evolve, their collaboration may play a pivotal role in shaping the future of content distribution across various regions.

Further updates regarding this partnership and its impact on the global media market are anticipated in the near future.
