Four St. Joseph Firefighters Earn Promotions in December

The St. Joseph Fire Department celebrated significant milestones this December with the promotion of four dedicated members, including two newly appointed captains and a fire inspector. These advancements reflect the department’s commitment to recognizing long-serving personnel and enhancing its leadership team.

Promotions Highlight Commitment and Experience

Ryan Millush was promoted from driver to captain on December 29, 2023. With 16 years of service, Capt. Millush has made notable contributions to the department and now assumes greater responsibilities in his new role. His promotion was welcomed by Fire Chief Ivan Klippenstein, who praised Millush’s dedication to the community.

Another key appointment came with the promotion of Andy Peterson, who advanced from driver to fire inspector on December 18, 2023. Chief Klippenstein acknowledged Peterson’s hard work and its positive impact on both the department and the wider community, stating, “Andy’s dedication and hard work continue to make a positive impact within our department and community.”

On December 17, 2023, Capt. Matt Hill transitioned from driver to captain after 14 years of service. His extensive experience and commitment to the St. Joseph Fire Department position him well to lead and inspire his colleagues in their daily operations.

New Leadership Role for Training Officer

Additionally, the department announced the promotion of Mark Haenni from captain to training officer on December 16, 2023. In this new role, Haenni will focus on training new recruits and ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges faced in the field. Chief Klippenstein highlighted Haenni’s leadership and experience as vital assets in shaping future firefighters.
