Gregory Dewayne Lockwood, aged 55, allegedly tried to lure the teenager into his vehicle by offering her $300, according to reports from local authorities.
The alarming encounter unfolded on October 21, 2023, near the intersection of East Pinehurst Boulevard and South Grove Street. After the girl declined his offer, Lockwood reportedly grabbed her arm in a desperate attempt to pull her into his white Nissan SUV. Surveillance footage from a local store and data from a license plate reader were crucial in identifying the suspect.
In a press conference, Eustis Police Chief Craig Capri emphasized the seriousness of the situation. “Somebody’s going to talk somebody against their will, that’s a serious problem, and I’ll tell you right now it’s not happening in my city,” he stated, underscoring the community’s commitment to safety.
