The landscape of college football is shifting as two more players from Penn State have announced their transfers to Virginia Tech. Freshman defensive tackle Randy Adirika and redshirt freshman defensive end Mylachi Williams will join the Hokies, reuniting with former Nittany Lions coach James Franklin. This marks a notable moment as Virginia Tech now adds a total of nine players from the 2025 Penn State roster.
Adirika participated in two games during his freshman season, primarily serving as a reserve, while Williams played in four games, contributing with one tackle. Their transfers come amid a broader trend, as several other former Penn State players have also made commitments to new teams.
Transfer Surge Continues
In addition to Adirika and Williams, five other former players from Penn State have secured placements at various institutions. Quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer, tight end Luke Reynolds, linebacker Keon Wylie, tight end Matt Henderson, and wide receiver Jeff Exinor Jr. have all announced their transfers to Virginia Tech.
Furthermore, cornerback A.J. Harris will head to Big Ten champion Indiana, safety Antoine Belgrave-Shorter is set to join Arizona State, and wide receiver Matt Outten will transfer to Syracuse. Harris, who previously transferred from Georgia before the 2024 season, was a two-year starter and earned All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2025, tallying 33 tackles, one pass breakup, and one fumble recovery.
Of the 50 former Penn State players who entered the transfer portal, 35 have found new opportunities, while 15 are still searching. The transfer portal closes on Friday, offering these remaining players a final chance to secure their next destination.
Penn State Adds New Talent
In a related development, sophomore offensive lineman Tyshon Huff from Division II Tiffin University announced his decision to transfer to Penn State. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Huff started every game at Tiffin in 2025 and is capable of playing both guard and tackle. His transfer makes him the 36th player to join the Lions since the portal opened on January 2, with Huff being the seventh offensive lineman added to the roster.
As the transfer window progresses, twenty-two players from Penn State’s 2025 roster have either exhausted their eligibility or declared for the NFL draft. This period of transition not only reshapes individual careers but also impacts the teams involved, as they seek to build competitive rosters for the upcoming season.
