Shaun Jenne Appointed as New Coach for Polk County Boys Tennis

Polk County has appointed Shaun Jenne as the new head coach for its boys’ tennis program, as announced by Athletic Director Michelle Fagan. Jenne, who has a longstanding dedication to tennis, aims to build on the strong legacy of the sport in the region.

Jenne’s connection to tennis began in 1995, when he started playing alongside his wife, Angela Jenne. Angela was previously a standout player for the Wolverines under the guidance of coach Jim Click. She will join the coaching staff as an assistant coach, bringing her extensive knowledge and experience to the team.

The Jenne family has a rich history in tennis, with several members achieving notable successes in the sport. Their son Ryan played at Methodist University, while their daughter Hannah secured a 1A doubles state championship for the Wolverines. Additionally, three of their other children currently represent Polk County in tennis competitions.

“I am honored to be awarded this position,” Jenne stated, expressing his enthusiasm for the role. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, saying, “I look forward to working cooperatively with Athletic Director Michelle Fagan and women’s head coach Tracy Becker to make Polk County Wolverine tennis the best it can be.” Becker will continue to lead the women’s program, ensuring a unified approach to tennis development within the county.

Jenne’s appointment reflects a commitment to fostering talent and enhancing the performance of the boys’ tennis program at Polk County. With a focus on nurturing young athletes and building on the existing traditions, he aims to create a thriving environment for tennis in the community. The combination of Jenne’s experience and family involvement is expected to bring a new level of energy and dedication to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.
