The Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania have officially launched their 2026 cookie season, introducing a new flavor while celebrating the organization’s rich history. The new cookie, called Exploremores, is inspired by rocky road ice cream and features chocolate cookies filled with marshmallow and toasted almond–flavored cream. This launch marks not just a new addition to the beloved cookie lineup but also aligns with the Girl Scouts’ mission of encouraging exploration and leadership among young girls.
Continuing a Long-standing Tradition
The annual cookie program serves as the largest fundraiser for the Girl Scouts, funding troop activities, travel, service projects, and summer camp experiences. According to Kim E. Fraites-Dow, chief executive officer of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, this season is highly anticipated. “This is a season many people look forward to for good reason,” she stated, emphasizing that the cookie program contributes significantly to building leadership and entrepreneurial skills in girls.
The 2026 cookie season is particularly symbolic as it coincides with the commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary. The origins of the Girl Scout Cookie date back to 1933, when Girl Scouts in Philadelphia baked and sold cookies at the Philadelphia Gas and Electric Company. The cookie sale concept gained traction nationally in 1936, evolving into the program recognized today.
A Sweet Selection for Everyone
In addition to Exploremores, cookie enthusiasts can still purchase long-standing favorites such as Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Adventurefuls, Lemonades, Trefoils, and the gluten-free option, Caramel Chocolate Chip. Most cookies are priced at $6 per package, while the gluten-free variety is available for $7. Sales will continue until March 8.
Consumers can buy cookies directly from local Girl Scouts, find nearby booths, or place orders for shipment through the Girl Scout Cookie Finder. For real-time updates throughout the season, shoppers can text COOKIES to 59618. Additional information regarding cookie purchases or supporting local troops can be found at gsep.org/cookies. Girls in grades kindergarten through 12 interested in participating may also explore joining or volunteering opportunities at gsep.org/join.
As the cookie season unfolds, each box represents more than just a sweet treat; it symbolizes the ongoing commitment to empower the next generation of leaders while honoring a tradition that began nearly a century ago in Philadelphia.
