Bacio di Latte, a renowned Italian gelato brand, is set to open a new location within Mission Valley Mall in San Diego. The company recently submitted the necessary documentation to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality, signaling its intent to establish a presence in this popular shopping destination. Although an official opening date has yet to be announced, the application indicates active plans to enter the Mission Valley market.
Founded in 2011 by brothers Edoardo and Luigi, Bacio di Latte has built its reputation on crafting gelato using traditional Italian techniques. The brand emphasizes fresh, in-house production, with core gelato offerings made daily on-site. Each shop utilizes organic milk and cream sourced from farms in Sonoma County, along with premium ingredients like chocolate from Belgium and Italy, and pistachios and hazelnuts from Italy.
Expansion Plans and Local Sourcing
The new location at 1640 Camino del Rio N, Suite FSU18 will contribute to Bacio di Latte’s steady expansion across California, which already includes establishments in La Jolla and Del Mar. The menu features classic Italian gelato and fruit-based sorbets, focusing on freshness and the sourcing of high-quality ingredients. Local fruit is used in their sorbets to enhance natural flavors, further connecting the brand to the San Diego community.
Bacio di Latte is known for its dynamic offerings, frequently rotating new flavors while maintaining beloved staples. The company currently operates multiple locations throughout Southern California, including popular areas such as Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Pasadena, Irvine, and Costa Mesa.
The Mission Valley Mall location comes at a time when the mall is undergoing a transformation into The Valley, which will feature a more walkable, mixed-use environment. This redevelopment includes new residential units, updated retail spaces, and expanded dining options, making it an ideal setting for Bacio di Latte’s unique gelato experience.
