MORGANTOWN – The University High girls’ basketball team secured its tenth victory of the season with a commanding performance, defeating Laurel Highlands 67-25 on March 5, 2024. This win sets the stage for a highly anticipated rematch against Morgantown, which is scheduled for Thursday.
The Hawks, led by senior guard Bri Fox, demonstrated their dominance from the outset, jumping to a 19-0 lead in the first quarter. Fox, who averages 21 points per game, also contributes significantly in assists and steals, showcasing her multifaceted skills on the court. UHS coach Sammy Lusk praised her impact, stating, “She’s our motor, the engine that makes us go.”

Looking ahead, Fox is focused on the upcoming rematch with Morgantown, reflecting on their earlier season encounter, which resulted in a 70-31 loss. “We are much better at pushing through adversity now,” she noted. Fox is determined to lead her team with confidence as they prepare to face their rivals.
The Hawks now stand at 10-3 for the season, while Laurel Highlands falls to 5-11. The upcoming game against Morgantown is expected to be a significant challenge, but UHS is ready to showcase their improvements.
