SEIA Welcomes New Leadership to Drive Solar Industry Growth

On March 15, 2024, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) appointed Scott Moskowitz of Qcells as the new chair of its Board of Directors. This decision was made during a pivotal moment for the solar and storage sectors in the United States, as the industry braces for significant changes in 2026.

Moskowitz replaces Darren Van’t Hof, who stepped down to accept the role of interim president and CEO of SEIA. His election highlights SEIA’s commitment to maintaining American-made solar and storage as primary contributors to new energy production in the country. Alongside Moskowitz, Dr. Ingmar Ritzenhofen, chief commercial officer at RWE Clean Energy, has been elected as vice chair, enhancing the board’s expertise in large-scale project development and grid integration.

Strategic Leadership for the Future

In a statement regarding the new leadership, Van’t Hof emphasized the importance of experienced guidance during a transformative period for the solar and storage industry. “As the solar and storage industry enters an important year of growth and transition in 2026, SEIA’s success depends on strong, experienced leadership,” he said. “Congratulations to Scott, Ingmar, and all of SEIA’s new and returning board members. Together, we will ensure solar and storage continue to lead America’s energy future and deliver the economic and energy security that Americans are demanding.”

Moskowitz expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as chair at this critical juncture. He stated, “SEIA has an important role to play in advancing durable, bipartisan policy that accelerates deployment, strengthens U.S. manufacturing, and lowers electricity costs. I look forward to working closely with the board, staff, and policymakers to advance these goals.”

In addition to the chair and vice chair positions, SEIA’s board has elected three at-large members and appointed a new affiliate representative. The board also established division chairs and vice chairs across its six membership divisions, ensuring diverse representation within the organization.

New Board Composition

The newly appointed at-large members include Yann Brandt of FTC Solar, Kellie MacPherson of Radian Generation, and Jackie Murphy of Pivot Energy. The SEIA affiliate representative is Robin Dutta from the Chesapeake Solar and Storage Association.
