Community Mourns Loss of Beloved Coleman Resident Melba Bronson

Melba M. Bronson, a cherished member of the Coleman community, passed away on January 20, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on November 27, 1939, in Coleman, Florida, she was the daughter of Jasper and Edna Bronson. Melba’s life was marked by her deep-rooted connections to her hometown and her unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Throughout her life, Melba was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Oxford, where she nurtured many relationships and offered support to those around her. Known affectionately as “Memaw,” she took great pride in caring for her family, which included her granddaughters and thirteen great-grandchildren. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impact, and she will be remembered for her sassy yet sweet spirit.

Melba’s interests were diverse, reflecting her vibrant personality. She found joy in crocheting, gardening, and spending time outdoors, often seen in her rocking chair, enjoying the beauty of nature. Melba was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Mathis, who passed away in 1987, as well as her daughters: Anita Tipton, Deena Bronson, and Tammy Hunt.
