Nelson “Ozzie” King Passes Away at 87, Leaving Lasting Legacy

Ozzie King, born on September 21, 1938, was known for his warmth, kindness, and deep love for his family. He dedicated over 44 years of his life to Bethlehem Steel, where he served as General Manager of Hazardous Waste and Vehicular Services. After retirement, he enjoyed a second career as a shuttle driver for Scott Cars for 14 years, building lasting friendships along the way.

His passions included spending time at the beach, visiting casinos, watching horse races and NASCAR, and passionately cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. Ozzie was also an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Bethlehem, where he was known for his community spirit.

Ozzie is survived by his devoted wife of over 33 years, Sara Phillips King, and a large, loving family that includes his children Rory J. King, Tara King, Craig King, Lisa Sutphen, and Brad J. King, along with seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. His cherished dogs, Gunner and Winston, were also a significant part of his life.

In a heartfelt tribute, his family invites friends and community members to celebrate Ozzie’s life. The funeral service will take place at 11 A.M.February 6 at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, located at 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Family will welcome relatives and friends starting at 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service. A burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to several charitable organizations that were close to Ozzie’s heart, including The Sanctuary at Haafsville, Peaceable Kingdom, and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
