Sacred Heart Indians Secure Fourth Place at St. Joseph Invite

The boys’ golf team from the Hallettsville-Sacred Heart Indians achieved fourth place at the St. Joseph Invitational held on March 11, 2024, at the Victoria Country Club. The team collectively shot a score of 439, showcasing their competitive spirit against other regional teams.

Leading the charge for the Indians was Bryce Chovanetz, who finished with a strong score of 96. Following Chovanetz were teammates Cole Taylor with a score of 109, Brennan Ralston at 114, Weston Trobl who shot 120, and Tyler Tumis with a score of 136. Their combined efforts placed the team just behind the top contenders.

In the girls’ division of the St. Joseph Invitational, only three golfers from Sacred Heart participated, which meant the team could not record an overall team score. Nevertheless, individual performances stood out. Avery Beach secured third place overall, finishing with a score of 106. Close behind her was Mabry Machac, who also recorded a score of 106 but placed fourth due to a tiebreaker. Ella Demel completed the team’s participation with a score of 114.

The event highlighted the dedication and skill of the Sacred Heart teams, emphasizing their commitment to improving their performance in future competitions. Coach Robert Brewer of the Victoria Advocate noted the promising potential of these young athletes as they prepare for upcoming tournaments.

As the season progresses, the Hallettsville-Sacred Heart Indians will look to build on this experience and aim for higher placements in future events. The community continues to support these young athletes, who represent their school with pride and determination on the golf course.
