Tumwater Falls to Woodland 58-47 in 2A District Quarterfinal

BREAKING: Tumwater’s hopes for a championship came to an abrupt end on Friday as they fell to Woodland in the 2A District 4 Quarterfinal, losing 58-47. The Thunderbirds struggled with foul trouble throughout the game, ultimately costing them a chance at victory.

In a dramatic second quarter, Woodland surged ahead, scoring 25 points to extend their lead to 11 points by halftime. Tumwater trailed by just five at the end of the first quarter, but their inability to maintain composure led to a critical disadvantage.

Despite a valiant effort, including a push that brought them within two points in the third quarter, the T-Birds could not regain control. Woodland closed the game with an 18-9 run, sealing Tumwater’s fate. Tumwater’s struggle was compounded by consistent foul issues, with five players ultimately fouling out.

Maesyn Williams led the way for Tumwater, scoring 13 points while Kamryn Wilson contributed 11 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Cadynce Lee added eight points, five rebounds, and four steals. Anden Demaris secured seven points and 11 rebounds, while Raygen Cooper chipped in three points.

“Our girls fought hard, and we’re proud of their grit,” stated Tumwater assistant coach Gabi Larson. “We’re ready for the next one.”

Looking ahead, Tumwater (13-10) will face Ridgefield in an elimination matchup on Monday.
