Daytona 500 Ratings Surge 11% as Tyler Reddick Claims Victory

The television ratings for the Daytona 500 saw a significant increase in 2026, drawing an average of 7.489 million viewers. This figure, announced by Fox Sports on February 19, represents an 11% rise from the 2025 average of 6.761 million viewers. The race, held at Daytona International Speedway, not only topped all broadcast and cable networks during its airtime of 2:15 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. but also surpassed every non-prime window of the Winter Olympics.

Viewership peaked at 9.154 million between 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m., as fans tuned in for the exciting finish. Tyler Reddick secured the victory, overcoming two last-lap crashes to claim the first Harley J. Earl Trophy for 23XI Racing, a team co-owned by basketball legend Michael Jordan, driver Denny Hamlin, and Curtis Polk.

The Daytona 500’s start time was adjusted one hour earlier due to weather concerns, a decision made public just one day prior to the event. Fortunately, rain held off until approximately 30 minutes after the race concluded, allowing for a smooth finish before heavy showers hit the area. The Speedway reported an impressive in-person attendance of 150,000 fans, contributing to the overall excitement of the day.

This year’s Daytona 500 marked a notable recovery in viewership, as it was the most-watched event since the 2023 race, which attracted 8.173 million viewers. The surge in ratings highlights the enduring popularity of NASCAR and the Daytona 500 as a premier sporting event, drawing in both dedicated fans and new viewers alike.
