Mount Ayr Golf Teams Dominate Creston Panthers on Senior Night
Mount Ayr delivered a commanding performance Friday at Crestmoor Golf Club, sweeping both boys and girls dual meets against the Creston Panthers on Creston’s senior night. The dual victories included standout individual performances, setting a high bar heading into the upcoming Hawkeye Ten Tournament.
In the boys varsity competition, Creston’s Marshall Long narrowly claimed the medalist honors with a 40, edging Mount Ayr’s Avery Wolfe who finished one stroke behind at 41. Despite Long’s strong showing, Mount Ayr’s collective effort pushed the Panthers to a 174-183 team victory.
Mount Ayr’s roster for boys varsity included Jaxson Greene (43), Tanner Streit (45), Drew Graham (45), Adler Reed (49), and Tytan Gourley (51), all contributing crucial scores. Creston battled hard with Garrett Troutwine (44), Kylen Parsons (49), Branden Spencer (50), Gabe Blazek (51), and Chasse Downing (54).

The girls side saw Mount Ayr’s defending state champion Jaylee Shaffer storm through the course with a one-over par 38, grabbing medalist honors while teammate Izzy Gilbertson finished as runner-up with a 48. Creston’s Ricci Johnston kept pace but fell just short at 49 points.
Mount Ayr’s team score of 218 comfortably outpaced Creston’s 234, backed by solid performances from Claire Routh (63), Alyssa Doolittle (69), and Dallas Newton (71). Creston’s squad included Kennedy Strider (61), Isabella Spencer (62), Brooke Huck (62), and Nora Barton (67).
