Moira T. Lewis, 77, Passes Away; Memorial Service Scheduled Soon

BREAKING: Moira T. Lewis, aged 77, of Seabrook, New Hampshire, has tragically passed away on October 18, 2025. This beloved educator and public servant is remembered for her unwavering spirit and dedication to both her students and the community.
Born on April 27, 1948, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Moira was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Shanahan) McCarthy. A proud graduate of Keith Hall High School, she furthered her education with a B.S. in Education from Salem Teachers College. Moira began her teaching career at Lowell High School, where she passionately served until 1984.
Following her teaching career, Moira transitioned to a vital role as a civilian employee with the U.S. Air Force at Hanscom Air Force Base, contributing to research and laboratory development until her retirement in 2012 at the GS-9 level. Her legacy is marked by her quick wit, deep love for animals, and a joyful embrace of Halloween and all things spooky, traits that endeared her to friends and family alike.
Moira leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years, M. Douglas Lewis, and a close-knit family, including her brother, William J. McCarthy Jr., and his wife, Phyllis, of Merrimack, NH, as well as her niece and nephew, Kathleen and William McCarthy III.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on November 1, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, located at 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. This service is an opportunity for all who knew Moira to come together to celebrate her life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, PO Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885. Arrangements are being handled by Remick & Gendron Funeral Home & Crematory in Hampton.
