Young Actors Bring New Life to Harry Potter Audiobook

A new generation of actors is stepping into the roles of beloved characters from the Harry Potter universe. Young British performers Frankie Treadaway, Arabella Stanton, and Max Lester are voicing Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, respectively, for an upcoming audiobook adaptation of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” This version, available on Audible, features multiple actors portraying different characters, diverging from the traditional single-narrator format.
During a recent interview with the Associated Press at the recording studio, the young actors expressed their enthusiasm for voice acting and their connection to the Harry Potter world. Treadaway, Stanton, and Lester revealed that one of their favorite perks of the job is access to a snack cupboard stocked with chocolate, a necessary fuel for long recording sessions. The highly anticipated audiobook is set to be released on November 4, 2023.
In other entertainment news, ballerina Misty Copeland bid farewell to the stage in a grand gala hosted by the American Ballet Theatre in New York. Known for being the first Black female principal dancer in the company’s 75-year history, Copeland received heartfelt tributes during her final performance. Notable figures, including Oprah Winfrey, praised Copeland for her groundbreaking contributions to ballet. At 43 years old, she announced her retirement to focus on promoting diversity in the dance world through her foundation and children’s literature.
On the film front, acclaimed director Yorgos Lanthimos has released his latest work, “Bugonia.” Critic Jake Coyle describes the film as both thrilling and tragically relevant, featuring a unique plot where an eco-terrorist, played by Jesse Plemons, kidnaps a pharmaceutical CEO, portrayed by Emma Stone, convinced she is an alien. Coyle notes that the movie’s dark humor and surreal elements make it one of Lanthimos’ most compelling films to date.
Meanwhile, the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel “Regretting You” has garnered attention for its complex narrative. The film, featuring Dave Franco and Allison Williams, explores themes of love, loss, and family. Critics have noted its tonal inconsistencies, with some praising its emotional depth while others criticize its execution. The film is set to premiere in theaters on Friday.
In the world of music, Bon Jovi has announced its return to the stage with the “Forever Tour,” scheduled for 2026. This will be the band’s first tour since frontman Jon Bon Jovi underwent vocal cord surgery. The tour kicks off with four nights at New York’s Madison Square Garden before heading to venues in Edinburgh, Scotland, Dublin, and London. An artist presale begins on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 10 a.m. Eastern Time.
Additionally, a lawsuit filed by actor Alec Baldwin regarding the 2021 fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has been moved to federal court. Baldwin’s claim of malicious prosecution has garnered significant media attention, particularly after a charge of involuntary manslaughter against him was dismissed in 2024 due to alleged withholding of evidence by authorities.
Lastly, Tessa Thompson is taking on a challenging role in Nia DaCosta’s adaptation of “Hedda.” The actress portrays a complex character who disrupts those around her with wit and manipulation, demonstrating a significant departure from her previous roles. This performance showcases Thompson’s versatility and depth as an actress.
As these stories unfold, the entertainment industry continues to evolve, reflecting changes in both societal norms and audience expectations.
