Kiwanis Spooktacular Fundraiser Kicks Off Tomorrow at 5 PM!

UPDATE: The highly anticipated Coats for Kids Spooktacular fundraiser is set to launch tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Crying Eagle Brewing, promising a night filled with family-friendly activities and a heartfelt mission to help children in need.
For 36 years, the Kiwanis Club of Lake Charles has championed local youth through its signature initiative, Kiwanis Coats for Kids. This year, the goal is to raise $50,000 to support ten local charitable organizations aimed at community betterment. Last year, the club successfully collected 2,800 coats and raised $42,500, demonstrating the power of community support.
The Spooktacular event, designed to blend fun with philanthropy, will feature approximately 30 activities including a bounce house, petting zoo, and even a mechanical bull. Families are encouraged to participate in games like cornhole and washer toss, while a special area for younger children will ensure everyone can get in on the action.
Miguel Conde, club president and event chair, emphasized the community’s spirit, stating, “It feels wonderful to do it.” He noted that every coat donated helps those in need, reinforcing the club’s commitment to uplift vulnerable youth in Southwest Louisiana. Attendees who bring a new or gently used coat will receive a complimentary drinking glass, beverage token, and raffle ticket as a token of appreciation.
The event will culminate with a performance by the Evan Blake Band, alongside a silent auction and raffles, keeping the energy high until the event concludes at 9 p.m.
Collection efforts will continue through the week before Thanksgiving, with drop boxes located at local schools, the Imperial Calcasieu Museum, and participating McDonald’s restaurants.
Join the Kiwanis Club in making a difference this Friday, October 24, 2025. Your participation can bring warmth to a child this winter!
