Houston Woman Demands Answers After Landscaping Stones Go Missing

URGENT UPDATE: A Houston homeowner is urgently seeking answers after landscaping stones were removed from her property, leaving her feeling vulnerable. Maria Trevino reported the incident to ABC13, expressing frustration over the lack of response from the City of Houston’s 3-1-1 service.

On September 18, 2023, Trevino returned home to find her carefully placed landscaping stones missing. These stones, strategically positioned at the corner of her property, were installed over a year ago to prevent cars from veering into her yard. “Where are the rocks? Where are the stones?” she exclaimed, fearing for her safety once again.

Trevino’s security cameras captured the moment of the removal. At 10:03 a.m., the footage shows the stones in place. Just three minutes later, at 10:06 a.m., the video reveals a large piece of machinery at her property, dumping something heavy into its truck. Trevino believes the city’s heavy trash team mistakenly took her stones during a scheduled yard waste pickup on September 16.

“Those stones weren’t trash; they were there for a reason,” Trevino stated, highlighting her distress over the city’s actions. After the incident, she reached out to 3-1-1 multiple times, but her inquiries have gone unanswered. “They keep giving me report numbers, but no one follows up,” she lamented.

Trevino is now calling for the city to replace the stolen stones to restore her property’s safety. “I dread the weekends because I know that’s when cars typically drive up onto my lawn,” she added.

In a bid to assist Trevino, Eyewitness News contacted 3-1-1 for further information. Although she was advised to file a claim with the city, reports indicate that only 17% of claims were fulfilled between 2022 and 2024, raising doubts about her chances of receiving compensation.
