Girls Explore STEM at Annual Conference on Nov. 1 – Register Now!

URGENT UPDATE: The Girls Exploring Tomorrow’s Technology Conference is set to take place on Saturday, November 1, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County. This annual event, organized by the Chester County Economic Development Council, promises to connect hundreds of young girls with hands-on experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields.

This year marks a significant milestone as the conference celebrates 25 years of empowering girls to pursue careers in STEM. Since its inception in 2001, the initiative has aimed to combat the alarming statistic revealed by the World Economic Forum, which states that women constitute only 28 percent of the global STEM workforce.

Attendees can look forward to engaging with over 100 hands-on STEM activities, spanning diverse fields including computer science, engineering, coding, robotics, healthcare, and more. “GETT is a practical way to introduce girls to STEM fields in a fun, engaging half-day experience,” said Daisy Adams, GETT chairwoman and senior director at Bentley Systems.

The conference will not only feature interactive activities but also provide direct connections between the girls and female leaders in the STEM industry. Marianne Stack, ITAG project director, emphasized the transformative impact of these interactions: “When these students engage with successful women in STEM, it reshapes their outlook on what’s achievable and inspires them to see themselves as future innovators.”

Originally focused on the IT sector, the conference has broadened its reach to include students from across Southeastern Pennsylvania, expanding opportunities for girls year-round through various experiences.

This year’s event is crucial as it aligns with ongoing efforts to dismantle barriers in the technology sector, creating pathways for girls to envision and pursue careers in these essential fields.
