BREAKING: William Leo Keegan, a cherished figure in the Lowell community, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the age of 76, following a brief illness. His loss is felt deeply by family, friends, and the community he served.
Born in Lowell on April 4, 1949, Bill was the oldest son of the late William L. Keegan and Ruth (Lane) Keegan. He leaves behind his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth Townsend Keegan, and was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia O’Connor Keegan. Bill’s dedication to his family and friends was evident in everything he did.
Bill was a proud graduate of St. Peter’s School and Lowell High School, class of 1967. He enjoyed a fulfilling career with the City of Lowell in the City Engineer’s Department before retiring. An avid golfer, he was a member of Long Meadow Golf Club and previously at Mt. Pleasant Golf Club. Bill notably represented Long Meadow in the Cities Golf Tournament in 1977.
In addition to his passion for golf, Bill loved to read mystery novels and watch classic films. He cherished moments spent with friends, including Evan Bubanas, Ted O’Brien, Chuckie Raras, Peter Rogers, and Jimmy Rourke. Bill’s interests also extended to travel, dining out, and enjoying the beach.
Surviving Bill are his brother and sister-in-law, John and JoAnn Keegan, brother-in-law Al Parke, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Christopher Parke and Alicia Rogers of No. Chelmsford, Amanda Parke of Lowell, Andrew Parke and Traci Mentuck of Marblehead, James and Alison Keegan of Lowell, and Kristina and Elizabeth McQuaid of Lowell. He also leaves behind grandnieces Teagan Parke, Quinn, and Ella Keegan.
A visitation will be held at The Immaculate Conception Church, located at 144 East Merrimack St., Lowell, MA 01852, on Friday, October 31, 2025, starting at 10 AM. A Mass will follow at noon, with burial taking place at St. Mary Cemetery in North Tewksbury, MA.
In honor of Bill’s legacy, contributions can be made to the Long Meadow Scholarship Fund in memory of Bill Keegan or to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund.
His passing marks a significant loss for those who knew him.
