According to Planning and Urban Design Director Bridget Liddy, the city received a clear directive from the council: “No hotels, no short-term vacation rentals.” Instead, the focus is shifting towards creating sustainable and affordable living spaces for Savannah’s residents. Liddy stated, “The emphasis was put on housing, affordable and workforce housing, so that’s what we’re focusing on right now.”

Thompson added, “I do like we’re going back to original plans so it looks like Savannah more, and that it will benefit actual residents.”
