URGENT UPDATE: As Halloween approaches, Vacaville organizations are already mobilizing for the holidays, launching crucial drives to support families in need. Community groups are stepping up to ensure that every local family can celebrate the season with dignity and hope during a time when assistance is more critical than ever.
The Vacaville Fire Department has officially kicked off its annual Christmas Fund campaign, urging residents to donate for local families. This year, the goal is to assist more households than in previous seasons, making every contribution vital. “All donors will receive a letter for their tax records,” the department stated. “Every dollar helps us reach more Vacaville residents in need.” For more information and to donate, visit CityofVacaville.gov/News.
In a heartwarming initiative that has served the community for over 40 years, the Vacaville Christmas Wish program is now matching sponsors with underprivileged children to fulfill their holiday dreams. Each ornament on the group’s “wish trees” displays a child’s name and three holiday wishes, from toys to warm winter coats. Community members are encouraged to adopt children or make cash donations so volunteers, known as “elves,” can shop on their behalf. Families must apply by November 19, 2025, with registration details found at VacavilleChristmasWish.org.
Additionally, IBEW Local 1245 has launched its Fall/Winter Food Drive benefitting the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano. Nonperishable donations can be dropped off at the union hall located at 30 Orange Tree Circle or contributed online through their Virtual Food Drive. Essential items include canned meats, vegetables, pasta, and shelf-stable milk. The drive runs through December 31, 2025.
Budget Blinds of Fairfield/Vacaville is also participating by collecting food for The Vacaville Storehouse, which provides free groceries and personal items to local residents. The business aims to gather 2,500 food items by November 14, with donations accepted at their showroom located at 57 Commerce Place, Suite D.
Another noteworthy event is the Festival of Trees, benefiting Opportunity House, Vacaville’s homeless shelter and transitional housing program. This event runs from November 19 through December 2, with proceeds supporting essential programs at Opportunity House. Tree donors are invited to design and donate decorated artificial trees, which can be dropped off on November 17 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Vacaville Museum. Every participant receives a free ticket to the popular “Cookies for a Cause” event. More details are available at opportunityhouse-festivaloftrees.com/form.
With the holiday season approaching, the need for donations and support is more urgent than ever. Residents are encouraged to contribute to these drives to help their neighbors and ensure that everyone in Vacaville can experience the joy of the season.
