URGENT UPDATE: Significant travel disruptions are set to impact Boulder County from November 1 to 7, with multiple critical construction projects underway that will alter traffic patterns and create delays across the area. Residents and commuters are urged to plan their routes accordingly as crews work on vital infrastructure improvements.
Crews are launching major enhancements on 28th Street between Pearl and Iris. The project aims to improve multimodal travel and temporarily relocates the northbound 28th and Valmont Road RTD Stop No. 17992 until December 31. This relocation will affect routes 205 and BOLT, adding to the travel challenges in the area.
In a separate project, the 19th Street and Fourmile Canyon Creek underpass is scheduled for bridge replacement, necessitating a complete closure of northbound 19th Street between Sumac and Upland. Detours will direct traffic through Quince, with the road expected to reopen by April 1, 2024.
Elsewhere, urgent work is being conducted on the 63rd waterline replacement, closing 63rd, Andrus, and 62nd between Jay and Valmont. While access for businesses and residents will be maintained, the project is anticipated to be completed by April 1, 2024.
Additionally, ongoing milling and paving operations on Colo. 7 are expected to continue through late October, with work scheduled to finish by December 15. Expect alternating double-lane closures between 28th Street and Cherryvale Road from 7 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Friday.
In Boulder County, the Sugarloaf Road culvert replacement at Betasso Road will also see lane closures and the installation of a temporary three-way traffic signal. These changes are expected to generate travel delays into November while maintaining access to Betasso Preserve.
Traffic impacts will extend across the city as Boulder continues its significant 63rd Street waterline replacement project, affecting traffic through February. Throughout this initiative, closures will be enforced between Jay and Valmont, allowing only local and business access. Furthermore, starting Monday, a full closure of 63rd Street between Jay Road and Twin Lakes Road will take place through mid-November for the replacement of a deteriorating culvert.
Drivers should also be aware of upcoming construction on Colo. 119, where the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is working on safety, mobility, and bikeway enhancements, expected to conclude by spring 2027.
In Erie, significant delays are anticipated as the Prince Lake Dam rehabilitation project at 111th Street and Flatiron Meadows Boulevard continues until March 2026. While no lane closures are planned, drivers may encounter brief delays due to work trucks entering and exiting the site.
Additionally, lane closures will be enforced on Erie Parkway and Glacier Drive for traffic signal installations throughout December on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m..
Lastly, Weld County is fully closing WCR 1.5 and WCR 3 until November 26 for maintenance, impacting traffic 24 hours a day.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed about these developments and adjust travel plans as necessary. For real-time updates, officials advise checking local traffic alerts.
