Mark O’Herin, Beloved Chef, Passes Away at 70 in Voorheesville

URGENT UPDATE: Mark O’Herin, a cherished member of the Voorheesville community, has passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 17, 2023, at the age of 70. Known for his culinary talents and warm spirit, Mark’s sudden departure has left friends and family in shock and mourning.

Mark, formerly of Hawes Rd, Altamont, was celebrated for his exceptional cooking and baking skills, particularly his renowned cheesecakes. He was a constant source of support for his friends, often stepping in to help those in need. His kindness and generosity will be deeply missed.

Mark is survived by his four siblings and eleven nieces and nephews, all of whom are grieving the loss of their beloved brother and uncle. In an effort to honor his memory, an informal Irish Wake will be held at the Hedge Bistro at the Western Turnpike Golf Course on November 16, 2023, from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Friends and community members are invited to come together to celebrate Mark’s life.

The family has decided against formal services at this time but plans to hold a more extensive celebration of life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, they request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Guilderland Animal Shelter, organizations that reflect Mark’s compassionate nature.
