UPDATE: The much-anticipated Capital of Craft Fest is set to kick off today, Saturday, November 11, from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the Harley-Davidson Festival Grounds in San Diego. This premier event, marking the second year under its new name, promises to be a thrilling celebration of the region’s craft beer scene.
The festival, part of San Diego Beer Week, which continues through November 16, showcases over 40 local breweries, including renowned names like Stone Brewing, Alesmith Brewing, and Ballast Point. Attendees can enjoy unlimited 20-ounce craft beer samples served in a commemorative cup, making this an unmissable event for beer enthusiasts.
Kevin Hellman, the event promoter, notes that this year’s festival has expanded significantly, aiming to host 1,200 guests at a venue that comfortably accommodates over 2,000 people. Last year’s attendance was capped at just 400-500, reflecting the growing popularity of craft beer in the area, often dubbed the Capital of Craft.
Food lovers will also be delighted, as the event features a variety of local vendors including Full Belly BBQ and Doggos Gus, known for their bacon-wrapped hot dogs. Additionally, festival-goers will be treated to live music from the ‘80s tribute band Flash Pants and DJ Twon Burgundy, who will keep the energy high throughout the day.
Hellman emphasizes the festival’s commitment to supporting local breweries. “These are all San Diego Brewers Guild members, so they’re all San Diego brewers,” he stated, highlighting the festival’s focus on promoting local craft beer rather than mass-produced options.
General admission tickets are available for $50, with a special discount of $5 off using the code SDBEER. Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
As the excitement builds, attendees are encouraged to arrive early to take full advantage of this unique experience celebrating San Diego’s vibrant craft beer culture. Don’t miss out on what promises to be a fantastic kickoff to San Diego Beer Week!
