Left-Side Hitters Dominate MAAA Volleyball All-Conference Teams

UPDATE: The 2025 MAAA volleyball all-conference teams have just been announced, highlighting a remarkable season dominated by left-side hitters. Coaches from each division revealed the selections on October 30, 2025, following Bismarck’s historic victory in the Class 1 state championship.

The balance of power has shifted dramatically, with a staggering 11 out of 24 players on the all-conference list primarily playing as left-side hitters. Regular-season champions Potosi and Valle Catholic lead the league with four selections each, showcasing the strength of their rosters.

Potosi claimed the MAAA tournament title for the first time since 1993 and joined fellow district champions Valle Catholic, Bismarck, and Arcadia Valley. Star player Eden Robart emerged as the conference’s top attacker, while Macyn McCarthy distinguished herself as the only all-conference libero after surpassing 1,000 career digs earlier this month. Potosi’s setter, Adalynn Gibson, also reached the milestone of over 1,000 assists this season.

Farmington displayed explosive talent on the left side with senior Brenna Botkin and junior Kylie Woods, while Emma Gegg from Ste. Genevieve stood out with over 1,000 varsity digs. Fredericktown’s Maggie Wood earned repeat honors, and North County’s Megan Reed surpassed the 1,000 assists mark, hinting at a resurgence for the team.

Valle Catholic faced tough competition in the state sectionals but managed to advance past Arcadia Valley before falling to eventual Class 2 champion St. Vincent. Junior Lexie Rayoum emerged as a key attacker for the Lady Warriors, who remain undefeated in regular-season Small School conference play since 2018.

Bismarck celebrated a groundbreaking season with a historic 39-3 record, capturing the state championship trophy for the first time. The Lady Indians displayed resilience, overcoming match points in critical moments against Leopold and reigning champions Winona.

Despite lineup changes due to graduation and injuries, Arcadia Valley still produced three all-conference players, with standout performances from Hattie Vinyard and Annabelle Adams, who achieved 1,000 career assists as a sophomore setter.
