BREAKING: Michigan actor Jeff Daniels is set to launch his highly anticipated restaurant, JD’s Stage Bistro, just blocks from his famed Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea. This exciting new venue is currently under construction at 117 1/2 S. Main St. and aims to open its doors in spring 2026, according to its official website.
JD’s Stage Bistro will accommodate up to 100 guests, featuring a state-of-the-art wood-fired pizza oven, a stylish cocktail bar, and outdoor patio seating. The venue also offers private event spaces designed for small to mid-sized community gatherings and celebrations, making it a versatile addition to the Chelsea dining scene.
The culinary vision will be led by Chef Nate Wegryn, known for his innovative approach and commitment to local sourcing. Wegryn brings experience from Echelon Kitchen in Ann Arbor and The Dixboro Project, which was hailed as one of the best new restaurants in 2022. His menu promises to be contemporary and inspired, reflecting the rich agricultural resources of the surrounding area.
The project is a collaboration with Tannin Property Group, a Chelsea-based business with a strong track record since 2005. Daniels, alongside his son Ben and wife Amanda, aims to create a world-class music venue that will attract both local and nationally recognized singer-songwriters.
