UPDATE: Two major Chanukah events are set to take place in Mobile, Alabama, in just two weeks, with a compelling twist: they will support the local community through food donations for Feeding the Gulf Coast.
Chabad of Mobile has announced these festive celebrations, inviting the community to contribute canned goods that will be used to create a large menorah known as the CAN-NORAH. The menorah will be lit during the events, with all donated cans going directly to families in need across the Mobile and Baldwin areas.
Mark your calendars! The celebrations are scheduled for December 2023. These events promise to be meaningful and fun, drawing on community spirit and generosity to make a significant impact. Local officials, including the new Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis, will participate in the ceremonial menorah lighting, underscoring the event’s importance.
Over the next three weeks, residents are urged to donate non-perishable food items. Donations can be dropped off at Chabad or monetary contributions can be made to purchase cans.
