Timothy Andrew McGowan, a respected research analyst and passionate actor, passed away in early 2025 after a prolonged battle with leukemia. He was 67 years old. Born in 1957 in Brooklyn, NY, to James and Joan McGowan, Timothy was the third of six children in a family with Irish immigrant roots.
In 1966, the McGowan family moved to Maywood, NJ, where Timothy spent his formative years and attended Our Lady Queen of Peace school. The family relocated to California in 1971, settling in the San Fernando Valley a year later. He attended Chaminade High School, maintaining connections with the community long after his graduation.
Timothy’s career began in earnest when he joined Columbia Pictures in 1985 as a research analyst. Over the years, he advanced to the position of Vice President of Research at CBS/KCAL-9, where his contributions were instrumental in various projects within the entertainment industry.
In 1986, while acting at the Showboat Theatre, Timothy met Susan McDermott. The couple married the following year, welcoming two sons together: Matthew, born in 1989, and Morgan, born in 1992. After their marriage ended, Timothy reconnected with Pamela Meyer, a former classmate from Chaminade. Their partnership lasted over 15 years and included extensive travel around the world.
After a lengthy hiatus, Timothy returned to the theatre scene in 2010, participating in numerous productions in the Santa Clarita area. His passion for learning led him to become a dual citizen of Ireland and to complete two associate degrees during his life.
In 2022, Timothy triumphantly overcame a battle with duodenal cancer. Tragically, in late 2024, he received the diagnosis of leukemia, which ultimately claimed his life. He is survived by his life partner, Pam, his sons, Matthew and Morgan, and siblings, Terry, Jim, Colleen, and Cathy.
Timothy McGowan’s legacy will endure through the love and memories shared by his family and friends, who will continue to cherish his contributions to both his professional and personal life.
