Showcasing Cultural Heritage

Titled “The Aesthetics of Harmony: Blanc de Chine, Porcelain from Dehua,” the exhibition features approximately 100 meticulously crafted ceramic artworks alongside photographic displays. During the opening, Huang Hongjiang, the deputy consul general of China in Los Angeles, emphasized that Dehua porcelain is emblematic of China’s rich cultural heritage and modern craftsmanship. He noted that the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan presents opportunities for enhanced cooperation between China and the United States in trade and investment. Huang called for collaborative efforts to increase exchanges that would benefit both nations.

A Glimpse into Eastern Aesthetics

Fang Junqin, the head of Dehua County in southeastern China’s Fujian Province, expressed hope that the exhibition would allow the American public to appreciate the elegance and cultural significance of Dehua porcelain. He remarked on the importance of sharing the Eastern aesthetic with a broader audience.

Local resident Fred Stehle from Whittier, a city in Los Angeles County, shared his impressions of the displayed porcelain pieces. Describing them as “incredibly fine and delicate, rich in detail,” he noted their blend of Chinese tradition and modern craftsmanship. “We’re very interested in Chinese culture and hope to learn more,” he added, expressing a desire to visit China in the near future.

This exhibition not only showcases the artistry of Dehua porcelain but also serves as a platform for cultural dialogue, reflecting a growing interest in Chinese heritage within the United States.
