Hyundai Motor Group’s Executive Chair, Euisun Chung, presented the company’s strategic vision for 2026 during a recent address to global employees. This vision emphasizes a customer-centric transformation and aims to enhance collaboration within an evolving ecosystem, positioning the company to lead new industry standards.
In his remarks, Chung identified five strategic priorities: customer-focused evolution, agile decision-making, ecosystem competitiveness, bold collaboration, and the establishment of new industry standards. These priorities are designed to help the Group navigate the fast-changing global market and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
Driving Transformation Through Customer Insights
Chung began by expressing gratitude to employees and customers for their resilience during a challenging 2025. He outlined the significance of adapting to an increasingly competitive landscape, stating, “When conditions get tough and competition fierce, our greatest strength will be our ability to continuously evolve by staying close to our customers.”
He encouraged employees to reflect on their practices, asking critical questions about how well they consider customer perspectives in product development and quality assurance. This introspection, he noted, is vital for maintaining competitiveness and resilience.
Emphasizing Agile Decision-Making
In his call for transformation, Chung highlighted the necessity of agile decision-making and direct engagement in leadership. He urged leaders to immerse themselves in the field to gain firsthand insights into operations. “Above all, what matters most is fast and clear communication, and agile decision-making that is free from formality,” he stated, reinforcing the importance of efficiency in the Group’s operations.
Chung’s vision includes a cultural shift towards fresh thinking and innovative approaches, which he believes will enable Hyundai to maintain its competitive edge.
The chair also focused on the importance of strengthening the Group’s ecosystem, noting that the success of businesses like vehicle and humanoid robot manufacturing hinges on the performance of the entire supply chain. “The strength of our supply ecosystem directly amplifies our competitive advantage,” he said. “Sustainable growth is possible only when the whole ecosystem stays healthy.”
Chung emphasized that as artificial intelligence (AI) technology continues to advance, the automotive industry faces transformative changes. He underscored the need for bold collaboration with diverse partners to harness the potential of AI. “Looking at the automotive market alone, we’ve entered an era where core product competitiveness is determined by AI capabilities,” he remarked.
Through this bold collaboration, Hyundai aims to enhance its capabilities in deploying AI within its operations. Chung expressed confidence in the Group’s ability to compete globally, leveraging its world-class design and manufacturing expertise alongside valuable data from both production sites and user experiences.
“I am confident we will deliver greater value to customers,” he added, highlighting the importance of envisioning a broader future for the company.
