PRO-PT Physical Therapy has opened its 20th location in southeast Fresno, California, situated off Fowler Avenue and East Kings Canyon Road. This expansion aims to enhance accessibility for residents requiring physical therapy services, particularly those who face challenges traveling long distances for treatment.
President Todd Martin emphasized the importance of convenience for patients. “When people attend physical therapy two or three times a week, that’s actually a lot of travel, especially if they have to travel across town,” he stated. In Fresno, where travel times can reach up to 20 minutes, this new clinic is designed to bring care closer to the community.
By establishing this new clinic, PRO-PT aims to provide more specialized treatment options for the neighborhood. Martin noted, “By opening a clinic like this, we can actually increase availability for people and their treatment.” The location is expected to employ at least five providers, further contributing to the local healthcare landscape.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, California had over 24,000 physical therapists in 2023, indicating a significant demand for these services. CEO David Harris highlighted the gap in service delivery, mentioning that “only about 10% – 12% of the population that actually need physical therapy are receiving it.”
In its first week of operation, the new clinic has already begun serving at least 20 patients, with expectations to increase this number as awareness grows. PRO-PT Physical Therapy caters to patients of all ages and offers treatments targeting various issues related to the spine, back, knees, and other parts of the body.
Harris elaborated on the nature of physical therapy, explaining, “It’s how to do it properly. It’s when to do the right stretch, when to do the right exercise or activity.” The clinic’s goal is to improve overall functioning for patients, helping them become independent once they complete their treatment.
The opening of this facility marks a significant step for PRO-PT Physical Therapy in its mission to provide accessible and effective healthcare to the Fresno community. As the clinic settles into its new location, it is poised to play a vital role in addressing the physical therapy needs of local residents.
