Disney and Pixar have recently released a special teaser for their highly anticipated animated film, Hoppers, which is set to hit theaters on March 6, 2026. The film, directed by Daniel Chong, known for creating the series We Bare Bears, first entered development in 2020 and was officially announced at the D23 Expo in 2024.
The newly unveiled teaser, lasting one minute, provides a glimpse into the film’s intriguing narrative. It opens with a character named Dr. Sam explaining to the protagonist, Mabel, that their technology grants humans “unprecedented access” to the animal kingdom. Mabel responds with a wry observation about Dr. Sam’s invention, suggesting that it creates a “fake animal,” which leads to a humorous exchange reminiscent of the film Avatar.
As Mabel ventures into the animal world disguised as a beaver, she encounters a variety of animals and introduces herself. Dr. Sam cautions her against revealing her true identity as a human. However, Mabel inadvertently presses a button that complicates their situation, hinting at potential communication issues between the two characters.
Mabel’s enthusiasm shines through as she rallies the animals to resist human encroachment on their habitat. The stirring call to action is momentarily challenged by Insect Queen, a butterfly, who declares, “Let’s squish the humans!” This outburst causes Mabel to hesitate, as multiple snakes chime in with “Squish,” amplifying the tension.
The teaser continues with scenes depicting ants and frogs preparing for a confrontation, culminating in a dramatic crash and explosion. An injured lizard adds levity to the moment with the remark, “That was intense.”
The footage concludes with a comedic twist as a man named Jerry is startled by Mabel and another beaver who have entered his car. Mabel, from the back seat, seizes Jerry’s phone and types a message that an AI voice reads aloud. The message warns Jerry that his life is in danger and instructs him to follow Mabel’s commands, prompting a hasty getaway.
In addition to Chong’s direction, the screenplay for Hoppers is penned by Jesse Andrews. The film boasts an impressive voice cast, including Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Dave Franco, and Meryl Streep, among others.
With its blend of humor, adventure, and a strong environmental message, Hoppers is poised to capture the hearts of audiences worldwide when it arrives in theaters next year.
