The beloved series Ted Lasso is set to return for a fourth season, reigniting excitement among fans after speculation about its conclusion following the original three-season arc that wrapped in 2023. The popular Apple TV+ show, which debuted in 2020, follows an American football coach who takes the helm of a struggling British soccer team. Creator and star Jason Sudeikis had previously stated, “This story is done,” during a March 2023 appearance on the “Fly on the Wall” podcast, underscoring the initial intention of producing only three seasons.
Despite Sudeikis’ comments, he later surprised fans in March 2025 by announcing on the “New Heights” podcast that writing for season 4 was officially underway. Following this revelation, Apple TV+ confirmed that filming had begun in Kansas City, with a first-look image showcasing some returning characters, though not all.
Returning Cast Members
Several key cast members have confirmed their return for the upcoming season. Jason Sudeikis will reprise his role as the titular character, continuing the storyline that has captivated audiences globally. Hannah Waddingham, who plays Rebecca, is also back after expressing her desire to continue the series.
Among the returning cast is Juno Temple, recognized for her role as Keeley, who appears in the initial promotional materials for season 4. Jeremy Swift, known as Leslie, confirmed his presence in the cast photo, indicating that he will continue to be a part of the show. Additionally, Brett Goldstein will return as Roy, with official announcements confirming his involvement in the new season.
Other returning cast members include Brendan Hunt, reprising his role as Coach Willis, and new additions such as Tanya Reynolds, whose character details remain undisclosed.
New Faces and Uncertain Futures
Season 4 will introduce several newcomers, including Faye Marsay and Aisling Sharkey, who have been confirmed in key roles. Grant Feely will take over the role of Ted’s son, Henry, from Gus Turner, marking a significant change in the character’s portrayal.
While many cast members are confirmed, others remain uncertain. Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie, will not be returning as a series regular due to a scheduling conflict with a new HBO project he is involved in, created by Bill Lawrence, who also serves as an executive producer for Ted Lasso.
The status of Nick Mohammed, who portrayed Nate in the first three seasons, is also ambiguous, as he has not been confirmed for season 4 despite hinting at his potential involvement. Similarly, Anthony Head, known for his role as Rupert, has yet to be confirmed for the new season.
Questions linger regarding the future of Toheeb Jimoh, who plays Sam, and James Lance, who portrayed Trent. The future of Cristo Fernández, who is a fan favorite as Dani Rojas, is also unclear at this stage.
As excitement builds for the return of Ted Lasso, fans eagerly await more details about the plot and character developments in this much-anticipated fourth season. With its mix of returning favorites and intriguing new faces, the series promises to maintain the charm and wit that has endeared it to audiences worldwide.
