Will Arnett Responds to Rumors About Relationship with Amy Poehler

Will Arnett has addressed rumors regarding his relationship with ex-wife Amy Poehler, describing them as “f–king hilarious” and clarifying that they maintain a strong friendship. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, published on September 27, 2023, the 55-year-old actor shared insights into their dynamic, highlighting a recent surprise guest appearance by Poehler on his podcast, “SmartLess.”

During the interview, Arnett explained that he originally conceived of the idea of featuring surprise guests on the podcast without consulting his co-hosts, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes. In April, Bateman and Hayes took the opportunity to invite Poehler, 54, as a surprise guest, much to Arnett’s delight. “Yeah, that was a great one,” he remarked, expressing enthusiasm for the episode.

He revealed that Poehler even texted him and Hayes shortly after, saying, “We all got nominated for Golden Globes, let’s party.” In a light-hearted jab, she added, “I don’t have Bateman’s number, that’s probably for the best.” These interactions showcase the amicable nature of their post-marriage relationship.

Despite the friendly exchanges, Arnett noted that he was somewhat unsettled by the fact that their sons, Archie, 17, and Abel, 15, had kept the surprise from him. He commented, “One of the more alarming parts about her coming on our podcast was that my sons lied to me. That’s the part that unnerved me.” When Abel later apologized for his deception, Arnett responded with understanding, saying, “It’s OK, dude.”

Arnett further elaborated on the public’s perception of his relationship with Poehler, stating, “People think that they know. Over the years, I’ve read so many opinions people have. It’s f–king hilarious to me how much s–t is just made up, and they have zero idea.” His candid remarks reflect the complexities of living in the public eye and how misconceptions can arise.

The actor also touched on his relationship with fame, acknowledging its dual nature. He remarked, “Look, yes, it’s part of celebrity culture that we all participate in. And by the way, [celebrity] has been good to me. So I don’t want to s–t on it,” while admitting he still faces challenges associated with it. He pointed out the unpredictable nature of fame, cautioning, “You gotta be careful. The universe will be like, ‘Great, you don’t want it? We’ll take it away.’ Fame is just a weird thing.”

Despite his success, Arnett maintains humility, asserting, “I’m not the most famous dude in the world by any stretch,” and suggesting that people are not overly invested in the details of his personal life. He emphasized that his journey into acting was never driven by a desire for fame, yet he recognizes the interconnectedness of the two.

Will Arnett and Amy Poehler were married from August 2003 to July 2016. Their ability to foster a supportive relationship post-divorce serves as a notable example within the entertainment industry, where public scrutiny often complicates personal matters.
