Carol K. Lugar, aged 80, of Bluffton, Indiana, passed away on February 2, 2026. She is remembered for her unwavering love for family and friends and her dedication to her community.
Born to parents Kenneth and Mary Loy (Thomas) Nusbaumer, Carol graduated from Chester Center High School in 1964. She spent the majority of her life in Chester Township, where she was an active member of the Chester Center Church during her youth.
Career and Community Involvement
Throughout her career, Carol was employed by Old First National Bank in Bluffton and later at CTS of Berne. Her contributions to the local economy were significant, and she was well-regarded by her colleagues and clients alike.
Carol’s family described her as an extraordinary mother, lovingly known as “Momma” to her daughter, Tamara “Tammy” Lugar, of Bluffton. She took great joy in her role as a family matriarch, cherishing her nine nephews and 15 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Legacy and Farewell
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Kenneth Eugene Lugar, and her brother, G. Lamoine Nusbaumer. Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her memory on February 5, 2026, from 15:00 to 20:00, and one hour prior to the services on February 6, 2026, at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, located at 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier.
A celebration of Carol’s life will take place at 14:00 on February 6, 2026, with Pastor Lyle Breeding officiating. Following the service, interment will occur at Stahl Cemetery in Petroleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Stahl Cemetery Association, located at 2066 E. State Rd. 218, Bluffton, IN 46714. Arrangements are being handled by Walker & Glancy Funeral Home.
