Community Collects Essential Care Packages for Homeless

Residents of Front Royal and Welltown Watts are coming together to support the homeless community by collecting essential care packages for local shelters, including the Salvation Army. This initiative aims to provide vital items needed to improve the quality of life for those in need.

The collection drive focuses on gathering self-care travel items, such as band-aids, chapsticks, and hand wipes. Additional necessities include warm clothing and accessories like jackets, hats, scarves, socks, and gloves, which are crucial as temperatures drop. Blankets, duffel bags, suitcases with handles or wheels, ponchos, and hand warmers are also in high demand.

Ashley, a local organizer, is leading this effort and encourages community members to contribute whatever they can. “Every little bit helps,” she stated, emphasizing the impact even small donations can make. Those interested in donating can reach out directly to Ashley at 540-771-8067 to coordinate their contributions.

The collection drive reflects a growing commitment within these communities to address homelessness and support vulnerable populations. Local shelters are preparing to distribute the collected items, ensuring they reach those who need them most.

As winter approaches, the need for warm clothing and essential supplies becomes increasingly urgent. This initiative not only provides immediate relief but also fosters a sense of community solidarity. By coming together, residents of Front Royal and Welltown Watts are making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness.
