A dedicated educator, Harriette spent nearly 30 years in public education. She earned her undergraduate degree in education from Western Carolina University and her master’s degree from Converse University. Her teaching career included positions at Mills River, Stearns, Polk Central, and Mill Spring Elementary Schools, where she inspired countless children. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom; she was actively involved in Girls in Action, Mission Friends, and taught Sunday School for many years, sharing her faith and passion for learning with successive generations.

Harriette’s devotion to her family was evident in her 57 years of marriage to her beloved husband, Clint Blanton. Their relationship was a testament to commitment and faith, a narrative that will be remembered and cherished by their loved ones. Harriette is survived by her siblings, including Margaret Bennett of White Oak, Virginia Green of Tampa, and Walt Splawn of Rutherfordton. She also leaves behind two daughters, Joy Robbins and Julie Wilson, along with five grandchildren: Savannah, Julianna, Courtney, Austin, and Lauren.
Beyond her roles as a teacher and a family member, Harriette was a devoted member of the community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was a loyal member of Columbus Baptist Church before attending Emmanuel Baptist Church in her later years. She found joy in simple pleasures such as sewing, listening to hymns, and reading, all reflective of her gentle spirit and nurturing heart.
