Ed Kelce Supports Son Travis Amid Tight End Rankings Shift

Ed Kelce has publicly backed his son, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, as discussions about tight end rankings heat up. The 74-year-old took to Instagram to commend Travis for his performance this season, emphasizing that he led all NFL tight ends in total yardage through Week 10. “If anyone questions how good Travis is playing; through Week 10 he leads all tight ends in total yardage,” Ed Kelce stated.

As of Week 12, Travis Kelce has fallen to second place in the league standings. The Arizona Cardinals’ tight end, Trey McBride, now leads the rankings with 80 receptions and 797 total yards. Travis follows closely behind with 674 yards, just ahead of Tyler Warren, a rookie from the Indianapolis Colts, who has recorded 662 yards. At 36 years old, Kelce has demonstrated impressive performance, already surpassing his touchdown total from last season with four touchdowns and 54 catches.

Kelce’s consistent play has solidified his reputation as a key player for the Chiefs. Known for his strong connection with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the four-time All-Pro and ten-time Pro Bowler continues to be a crucial asset to the team’s offense. After last season’s Super Bowl defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce quickly dismissed retirement rumors, confirming his intention to return to the field.

Looking ahead, Kelce indicated that he would announce his intentions to play in 2026 before NFL free agency opens in March. This timeline is intended to give the Chiefs ample opportunity to strategize for the offseason.

In a recent game, Kelce contributed four catches for 43 yards during the Chiefs’ narrow 23-20 victory over the Colts, improving Kansas City’s record to 6-5. Despite the win, the team remains outside the playoff picture, facing a crucial phase in the season as they aim for a postseason berth.

The Chiefs’ next challenge is on Thanksgiving Day, when they will take on the Dallas Cowboys at 16:30 ET. This matchup promises to be pivotal for both the team’s playoff aspirations and Kelce’s ongoing impact on the field as the season progresses.
