Fairytale Foundation Celebrates 10 Years of Joy with Gala

The Fairytale Foundation celebrated a significant milestone on December 27, 2023, marking its 10th Anniversary Gala at the Cleveland Yachting Club in Rocky River, Ohio. The event brought together volunteers, families, donors, and community supporters to reflect on a decade of service dedicated to bringing joy and comfort to children facing serious illness, loss, or difficult circumstances throughout Northeast Ohio.

Founded in 2015 by Stephanie Jordan while she was a junior at Bay High School, the organization has grown significantly. It provides free “Wish Visits,” which involve costumed fairy tale characters visiting children in hospitals, homes, and community settings. “What started as a couple of TV trays in my bedroom has turned into something I could have never imagined,” Jordan expressed, emphasizing the emotional significance of reaching this milestone.

Celebratory Gala Highlights Community Support

The gala featured a fairy tale theme, complete with dinner, dancing, and a silent auction. Attendees had the opportunity to bid on gift baskets, themed experiences, and locally donated items, all with proceeds benefiting the foundation’s ongoing programs. Many guests embraced the spirit of the organization by dressing in gowns and festive attire inspired by classic fairy tales.

Jordan noted that the evening was not merely about elegance but about creating a special atmosphere for everyone involved. “This wasn’t meant to be fancy for the sake of being fancy. I wanted it to feel special, because it is special, not just for me, but for all the volunteers and families who’ve been part of this,” she said.

With approximately 60 active volunteers aged between 14 to 22, the Fairytale Foundation has become a fully volunteer-run nonprofit. The organization not only conducts wish visits but also organizes birthday parties, private celebrations, and public appearances, extending its reach and impact in the community.

Impact on Volunteers and Community

Reflecting on the importance of the gala, Jordan highlighted the dedication of the volunteers who contribute to the foundation’s mission. Many of these individuals began as shy teenagers and later took on leadership roles within the organization. “I’ve watched kids who were incredibly shy come in and completely grow into themselves,” she shared. “Some of the volunteers I met our very first year went on to become leaders within Fairytale and then head off to college.”

The foundation’s mission continues to resonate deeply with those involved, as Jordan stated, “There is nothing more rewarding than those visits. Even though they can be emotionally demanding, they’re the reason we started this in the first place.” The gala not only celebrated the foundation’s accomplishments but also honored the volunteers who have made those achievements possible.

As the Fairytale Foundation enters its second decade, Jordan emphasized a commitment to expanding its wish program and maintaining a creative, supportive environment for young volunteers. “I’m constantly rediscovering how many lives Fairytale has touched,” she remarked. “Ten years in, that still amazes me.”

The success of the gala illustrates the strong community support behind the Fairytale Foundation, a testament to its committed volunteers and the impact it has made in the lives of countless children and families over the past decade.
