Jane Ronsheim Ring, an esteemed educator and cherished member of her community, passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2025, in Evanston, Illinois. She was 81 years old. Jane was born on October 30, 1944, to the late Julian and Sally Ronsheim. Throughout her life, she demonstrated a profound passion for education and the French language.
Jane’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University, followed by a Master of Arts from Columbia University, where she specialized in French studies. Her dedication to teaching was evident during her tenure at Evanston Township High School, where she inspired countless students while working in the computer lab.
A Life Filled with Love and Adventure
Jane found immense joy in her personal life, particularly during summer trips to Southern France with her husband, Eugene Ring. The couple, married for 58 years, enjoyed exploring the rich cultural tapestry of the region, indulging in local cuisine, and rekindling friendships formed over the years. These experiences profoundly shaped Jane’s worldview and enriched her love for the French language and culture.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene, her children Marcy Ring Fein and Dan Ring, and their respective families. Marcy, who resides in Chicago, Illinois, is married to Todd Fein, while Dan and his wife, Sara, live in Los Angeles. Jane’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Riley, Skylar, and Dylan Fein, as well as Charles Ring.
Jane’s family also includes her sister, Dr. Nancy Ronsheim, of Annapolis, Maryland, and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kolasky, of Portland, Oregon. She is predeceased by her sister, Carol Martin, of Cos Cob, Connecticut.
Memorial Service and Commemoration
A memorial service honoring Jane’s life will take place on February 2, 2026, at 1 PM at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home located at 111 Skokie Boulevard, Wilmette, Illinois. Following the service, interment will occur at Memorial Park in Skokie. The family invites friends and loved ones to gather for a shiva at 835 Judson Avenue in Evanston.
